Specialist Services

Genetics plays an important role in a number of medical conditions. Conditions with an underlying genetic mechanism often require specialist advice to decode the information and provide management and advice for families with such conditions.

Dr Manju Salaria is a Specialist in Clinical Genetics who has 15 years of experience as paediatrician and has been trained as a Clinical Geneticist at the Victorian Clinical Genetics Services, Monash Health, and Royal Woman Hospital & Royal Melbourne Hospital in Victoria, Australia. She is registered with AHPRA as paediatrician and Clinical Geneticist.

A referral from the specialist doctor or general practitioner is required for the consultation and a Medicare rebate is available for all consultations.

Services include risk assessment, discussion on hereditary / congenital/genetic conditions in affected or at risk families, prenatal/antenatal guidance related to risk of these disorders before planning or during pregnancy along with arranging and discussing genetic tests when required.

Dr Salaria is available to consult with patients of all age groups who are themselves affected or have a family history of various medical conditions due to genetic, congenital or inherited conditions such as birth defects, developmental delay, intellectual disability, congenital deafness, autism, ADHD, hereditary connective tissue disorders, dysmorphic syndromes, familial cancer syndromes and many more.

Sally offers extended consultation times to allow for a comprehensive health assessment including a discussion of current health issues, relevant examination (including a skin check) and referral for appropriate pathology tests and medical imaging as required. Once all tests have been completed, Sally conducts a follow up appointment to offer advice and treatment options to optimise health and address risk factors for chronic disease.
